On my new HP 15s-eq2147, because of the lack of an ethernet connection, installing Leap 15.3 from openSUSE-Leap-15.3-NET-x86_64.iso was impossible. So, I had to use openSUSE-Leap-15.3-DVD-x86_64.iso, which does not use internet repositories.
Installing was easy and much faster than from the net, but at the end, KDE did not appear. Pressing F7 shows a black screen only.
Then I tried "startx", but in vain. I have stored the output on http://ariannuccia.de/temp/startx.txt
and the content of ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log on http://ariannuccia.de/temp/Xorg.0.log.

This is AMD Renoir. As far as I know /some/ support for it is present since kernel 5.11. It is not listed as supported device by Leap 15.3 kernel.
Actually this specific device is first listed as supported in kernel 5.12.
Supported on kernel 5.11 in Ubuntu 21.04 and Fedora 34 . . .

There is a 5.12 kernel for 15.3 that is available from the OBS ("Community"), which supports the graphics integrated on your Ryzen chip.
You would need to install it with zypper from a terminal. There is a good chance this will work, but I think it should be confirmed by someone else here . . . so as root do:
zypper addrepo https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/dsterba:/kernel:/stable/15.... zypper refresh zypper install kernel-default At a guess, what Wolfgang wants is an up-to-date standard Leap installation that works with his hardware from a major manufacturer.
Since it seems such a thing doesn't exist, he's faced with the possibility of swapping the hardware for something that does work, or changing distro to something that does support his hardware out of the box.
My assumption is that he doesn't want bleeding-edge and he doesn't want to support an out-of-standard installation, he wants simplicity so he can get on with his life.
Good luck.

Probably so, although that means making a third purchase. On the other hand, OP has already installed a patched wlan driver. Anyway, my post was not meant as a recommendation, only that there is an available solution. Other alternatives with out of the box support would be to install Tumbleweed (kernel 3.13), Ubuntu 21.04 or Fedora 34 (both 5.11 kernel). --dg
