Randall,
After reviewing past and current posts to this list, a significant portion are about general Linux questions. Should we turn these posters away? I think we shouldn't, but you, possibly, hold a different opinion. The original post was about "ls". That was it. With all the general Linux non-Suse specific questions that are posted here, I thought he deserved a useable answer. Hopefully, he got it. Hopefully, again, he may go out and buy a Suse box set because he had such great experience on this list. Who knows.
The original question was about what some software did on Windows. That cannot be deemed germane here even some of us knew the answer. And I gave the O-P a useable answer. A correct answer, even. I also took advantage of his invitation for further commentary. I acknowledge that we tolerate a lot of marginal stuff, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be labelled as such. And I do think we should try to keep the topics here germane to SuSE Linux, not Windows look-alikes. Allowing a list's topic area to become over-broad will kill it. There's a plethora of places on the Internet to learn about Linux in general while there are very few places to learn about SuSE-specific topcis.
