k9copy for movies (I like to do that when I travel - don't have to take the DVD with me, can just put an ISO on the hard drive and watch that), dd to make isos of software DVDs, k3b if I want to remaster/redistribute the files from a 9 GB DVD to 4.7 GB DVDs.

I use avidemux-qt to take the video off the dvd and generate a single mpeg, then I normally just copy the mpeg to a data dvd. If the file is still to big I use auto dvd or auto vcd to reduce it. Simply select the first main video VOB and it automatically loads the rest. Regards Dave P
