I have a ThinkPad E520, which has HDMI output, in addition to the traditional VGA. When I connect a HDTV via HDMI, I cannot get the monitor& TV to show the same thing, unless I set both to 1024 x 768. I can have separate displays at full resolution. Is there anyway to get both displays to show the same thing, without limiting resolution.
It purely depends on the monitor and LVDS you are using. If the monitor and the laptop screen don't give the very same resolution, no way to crone the output in the native resolution. See what xrandr says.
It works fine in Windows 7. The LVDS is pseudo 720p (actually 768 lines). The HDTVs can handle 720p. As I mentioned, I can have W7 show the same screen on both internal & external displays using exactly the same hardware. Boot into Linux and I can no longer do that, unless I want to switch to 1024 x 768. I have no problem setting up separate displays in either Linux or W7. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
