[opensuse] inode ratios on ext4

I just tried converting a FS from reiser to ext4 and got a ridiculous 'out of space' message - it turned out that the 'lots-a-small-files' meant I ran out of inodes long, long before I ran out of data space. Does reiser allocate inodes dynamically?
