I find that the cursor disappears from my desktop at seemingly random times. The only way that I have found to restore the cursor is CTRL-ALT-Backspace followed by restarting KDE.
The desktop had been running without this problem since 4/22/05. It just started a few days ago.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior and found a solution?
Here's a guess / speculation: If you have a video card that can drive more than one monitor, have it configured for dual-monitor operation but have only one monitor connected, the mouse can move onto the phantom monitor and disappear from view. I've experienced this from time to time when I configure a new system or new video card and Sax2 senses the dual-monitor capability and enables it by default. Before I realized what's going on, it's rather disconcerting. So, could this be the problem? What make and model video card are you using? How many monitors?
Thanks in advance. -- Stephen P. Molnar, Ph.D.
