scp and sftp question

Hi, all: I want to use secure ftp to log into a hosting server, and get and put files. To find out how to do this, and get set up, I looked around, but didn't see anything obvious. I checked the manual for SuSE7.0, the HOWTO's, and even surfed a little at google. Still not clear. I browsed the Yast2 list and didn't see what I thought I wanted to see. So, my question is, do I install an SSH module, set up PGP or Gpgp, or just what is suggested? I'm in Reno, NV, if that makes a difference. TIA Tom
