Start in runlevel 3, and try reconfiguring X. Make a backup of /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and run sax. If it fails, use --reinit.
Good suggestion, Carlos, but it didn't work. Sax hangs on a blank screen, after its third announcement of progress...
Did you try with reinit?
I really don't think it is an X issue, since everything works fine with the 2.6.16.18 kernel, and was working fine in all previous YOU's for 9.3.
Your system runs, but its unable to start the graphical part. It can be related to the X driver.
I did find a couple of kernel oops in dmesg of the update (4-21.12), but haven't had time to track them down. Dmesg of the 2.6.16.18 kernel is clean.
It's working fine on my system. It would be interesting to know what those oops are saying: you can report them.
When you say you are "using the same kernel"...you _did_ mean you are using 2.6.11.4-21.12, correct?
Yes. cer@nimrodel:~> cat /proc/version Linux version 2.6.11.4-21.12-cer (geeko@buildhost) (gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)) #1 Thu May 25 21:35:37 CEST 2006 with the exception that I recompiled it locally some days after, but that doesn't matter. - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFElm4GtTMYHG2NR9URAmfnAKCTOE9ggkKEeNjEZSa7qQzYBXbm1QCfaqF/ Pf8+6nU5ThEahkHr/V+BBo8= =gYYe -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
