My big problem with the suse installation (I thought it was because I was installing on a LV) is that once the CD1 is installed, the machine reboots from the CD (which STILL has CD1, following the instructions) and prompt the main menu of "Boot from hard disk, installation, etc." Yast2 is never launched and hence never prompts asking for CD2.
So what exactly does happen? The only situation where YaST2 isn't launched automatically is when you're doing a remote install, e.g. over ssh. I've got a number of machines running 10.1 now, but I don't install from CD. There's got to be something odd in your environment for the CD-install not to work. /Per Jessen, Zürich I've had terrible problems with SuSE 10.1 install (This is my 3rd attempt) first one had a similar problem as listed below, didn't prompt for additional disks. This seemed to be related to a USB drive I had connected while trying to do the install. Having removed the USB drive it then prompted for the disks in the correct order. 2nd attempt grub failed to install the kernel in the boot loader - couldn't get around that so eventually had to physically disconnect my 2nd hard drive (hdc) for grub to install on hda (?? don't ask me why ??). Third attempt has actually installed but it will not recognize my wireless card (D-Link). It worked fine in 9.3 and 10.0 so more investigation required. I'm now on day 4 of trying to get this installed and I am seriously thinking of re-installing 9.3 or switching to Fedora :-( Just because I can't afford to mess with it anymore!
