Okay,
I think we found the culprit. The dhcpd.leases file had 113 entries, of that one IP was duplicated 47 times (with a number of different IPs) and there were others duplicated a lesser number of times. So I backed up the leases file and stopped the server and pulled-out the big guns...

David, I also had some issue like that, maybe in the last 5-6 weeks - I also had to fiddle with dhcpd.leases which I've never had to before, ever.
My dhcpd is quite old, 4.1 I think - in mid-March, I discussed it with someone off-line, he said there was an issue with the way the client-id is being generated. I have not looked into any further.
All appears to be working normally. I went ahead and added the "update-conflict-detection off;" option to dhcpd.conf to clear out the records with no corresponding TXT (that I added to the zone files). I'll check back in a few days and if needed, I'll really start from scratch (shutdown both dhcpcd and named, truncate the dhcpd.leases file and removal all entries from the zones except the static entries and let it all rebuild as host ask for a new lease) I also have never had this issue before. I have had some funkynes with some of the kids devices, but never really any problem with a host forward or reverse entry being added. I guess it finally got bad enough and the conflicts too great for the system to handle. All good now. -- David C.
