New GCC goes on smoothly...

Good day, Just installed GCC and it glided onto my system very smoothly, I even risked doing it remotely. However, I do have one question that is hard to verify remotely: I was getting an error message on starting most applications that "locale not uspported in C library", was that important? Matt
