I installed the RPMs from a mirror of SuSE's FTP site, and I get a lot of conflicts. Below is a list from YaST2. I am aware of the one KDE conflict, but I choose to ignore it. I believe the Gnome related conflicts are more significant. What else do I need in order for Gnome to be happy?
It's funny thing: pilchard:~ # apt -s install abiword2 gabber gnucash gtkhtml .... The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: gabber: Depends: libgal.so.21 gnucash: Depends: libgal.so.21 gtkhtml: Depends: libgal.so.21 If I now take care that gal-0.23 (instead of newer gal-0.24) is being installed (delivering libgal.so.21) and try again again I get: pilchard:~ # apt -s install abiword2 gnucash gtkhtml gnome-spell Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: gnome-spell: Depends: libgal.so.23 As gnome-spell is only available from CDs, I guess that a new version must be delivered with the rest of the gnome2 pkgs.... -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
