I too have had this problem when trying to open more then two pdf"s in a row. Only solution is to restart FF or SM then you can open a couple more and then repeat the sequence. Or which to Chrome which never gives me this problem. I just kill acroread or the process that calls it. Then reload the page. No need to kill FF if you don't want to (I don't - to many tabs). Same problem here, I'll have to try killing acroread to see if that helps.
Excuse moi for asking, but which version of oS are you running because 12.1 (?and earlier) uses Okular for pdf files? And I don't have problems with Okular.
This Acrobat<->Gecko bug is sooo old. Basically the second PDF to be opened never opens because Acrobat freezing. We have no idea what's happening here. I usually advice people to remove acroread entirely or disable the plugin in the plugin settings of Firefox or Seamonkey so that they offer evince or okular or whatever else. Even opening a PDF outside of the browser window with acroread seems to work. Just the plugin misbehaves for whatever reason.
