jamie- i have the same problem with my netgear router. it initially assigns ip's to all clients on the lan but then dhcpcd dies with a message complaining about an infinite lease duration. these messages appear during boot but i can't find them in any log, frustrating. the netgear router docs claim dns services but i can't seem to get them to work. i can reach the wan side of the router using the ip's supplied at boot time but my lan is non operative, no nfs services because there is no dns service. i'm considering setting up dns on one of the lan hosts with a static ip and without dhcp client services on the one host. any ideas? larry Jamie O'Shaughnessy wrote:
Anyone using an SMC Barricade broadband router (SMC7004BR) and linux? I can get things working fine if I assign a static IP address to my linux box, but if I set it up to use DHCP it doesn't want to play. At boot time a message does get displayed complaining about the DHCP server's response, but I can't read it fast enough and it doesn't show up in dmesg or /var/log/messages.
???
