Hi, I know that OpenSuse backported a lot of things even from kde4 to kde3, for example the new k-menu style.
That menu wasn't backported, it was originally developed by suse developers for openSUSE 10.2, and then kept as the official KDE menu

What about backporting of features and bugfixes from 4.2 to OS 11.1's KDE stable repository? Are there backports? I just ask because factory is too bleeding edge for me on my main desktop.
There have been a lot of backports already - a huge amount in fact.
Right now, the discussion is whether 4.2.x will be released as an online update.
By the way, note that the KDE repository's "factory" isn't the same as openSUSE's "factory". KDE's factory is the 4.2.x packages built for existing openSUSE versions (as well as openSUSE Factory). The "bleeding edge" kde rigt now is 4.3 pre-alpha, which is in "UNSTABLE". I'd say Factory's 4.2.1 is stable enough to use

Thanks for reply. I know that KDE's factory repo is not the same as OS factory "version". There was a bug in KDE factory when the screen went to black and unresponsive if some application was started, it bit me of course only on test system, so I chose to use KDE factory for testing, but don't use it on my main desktop. I know that this bug was fixed, but such a bug could be anytime in a factory repo, I think. And btw, I think this is absolutely acceptable, a factory repo is just like this, sometimes up, sometimes down, I didn't want to complain :) I'll try kde stable. If KDE 4.2 comes to OS 11.1's stable kde repo, it would be very nice. Thanks again.
