Have you tried this?
$ sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/audio.conf <<< 'options snd-intel-dspcfg dsp_driver=1'
Best Regards.
--- ┏━━┓彡 Masaru Nomiya Thank you Masaru for your help. I had not tried that before. The output of that command is: $ options snd-intel-dspcfg dsp_driver=1
I then rebooted and I have normal sound. I did not have to do anything else but run your command, then reboot, and the sound works. Prior to this I had booted into this system about 20 times and on 2 occasions I had normal sound. I do not know if this fixes the problem permanently, but it is encouraging. Thank you, I will report back, especially if the fix continues to hold. Gustav
