When I run Nautilus and browse smb shares on a windows server it's very slow. Also, when I try it with dolphin it will pop up two login boxes but will never successfully login. Am I missing something here or is this just not ready for prime time yet?
I've also had problems with Nauilus, and Gnome in general when using smb shares.
Nautilus is what works. Just slowly. Dolphin is the one that doesn't.
But with Dolphin it just seems to work for windows shares, ftp, sftp, etc. Once you navigate to a share successfully with the network icon in Dolphin, you can add that to your sidebar and it will quickly open that location again.
I don't want them all saved on the side bar.
Make sure your windows machines are actually sharing properly, and that you can access them. (Firewalls etc). Make sure you can access from the command line, as you will get better messages that way.
I have no problem using mount -t cifs. It's just a hassle.
Make sure you have a kde wallet open to save passwords. Set your default login/password combination in KDE.
I can't set a default login password because it's different every where I go. I'm a consultant and may be at 50 different sites each month. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
