Right enough here, Jerry,
I know I've just had an extended moan about browsers, but Netscape has topped itself this week by crashing every time I tried to show the value of various forms of *nix to the interested but wary.
Well, in my view Netscape should be allowed to die a death, it is probably beyond repair by now and it is just far too unstable. We shouldnt get too romantic about it, Netscape came from a similar mindset to that of Microsoft's until recently ! netscape is not an example of open-source development. Although it used to be quite a nice little program before it added all the garbage in like inbuilt mailer and web editor for god's sake.. I hope Konqueror succeeds, and other browsers. I don;t find Konqueror usable yet but I am sure it will be very soon. Yes, it is embarrassing to try and demonstrate web browsing - love it or hate it, Explorer is a flagship product by which others will be judged. That is just reality. It is not up to me of course but if I was a Big Noise at KDE I would concentrate all efforts on 4 things, in this order: Kmail Konqueror Kword K..whatever it is called (spreadsheet)... the rest can wait..
