Well. D'Oh.
The wonderful joys of PC technology!
If the display is hooked up with DVI the DPMS is working properly
(with KDE & XFCE)!
It seems like a weird combination of graphics, cable, display
things...
I'm tempted to reopen that report - in the datacentre, we use only
oldfashioned VGA.
