Hello, I had similar problems communicating between my work machine (Outlook 98) and home (Linux). I changed my character set at home from US-ASCII to ISO-8859-1 and it seemed to work. Forgive what is probably a dumb question from a beginner, but ...
I've installed SuSE 5.3 and Applixware 4.4.1 from the Office Suite 99
pretty much out of the box with no real problem. I can send and receive e-mail OK with elm, sendmail, etc. The problem is that when I send e-mail composed in Applixware Mail and it's received by MS Outlook Express,
subject line is OK, but the body of the message is generally a bunch of `??????'. The silly thing is that looking at the properties of the message in MS OE (specifically looking at the message content) the body text is there to read. Incidentally, MS OE indicates that there is an attached file. (BTW Mail from Applixware received by Applixware or elm is OK.)
I think I've looked at all the option buttons I can find in MS OE and Applixware, but can't see anything that would account for this behaviour.
Can anyone offer some help?
TIA
John Beasley

Check out the errata at www.applix.com. I think there is something about charsets and other email issues there. There are downloadable patches there for a bunch of applixware stuff; like updated import filters you should probably download. -- Michael E.
