Hi:
My daughter recently switched to SuSE 9.2. She connects to the internet via a dialup line. She can receive mail, and send short mails. If mails are more than 10 lines or so, then Kmail gives a timeout error. Surfing the net is possible, except when following links, like when going to www.ml.com and selecting "benefits on line". Konqueror will just hang forever. At first she thought it was her ISP, since she had sporadic similar problems when using MSW, so she switched ISP's but the problem persists. Bringing the firewall down has no effect, and she has tried Mozilla with the same results.
I can access those pages from where I live, using a cable connection. Maybe somebody could tell me where to start looking.
Thank you and regards.

Alfredo, This problem almost sounds like she is getting a timeout on the modem. When setting up her modem, did she set the timeout to "0", so that it would not timeout or try to hangup until she is ready? That would be the first thing I would check. I don't think I've ever heard of just kmail or Konq timing out like that and to the best of my knowledge, I've not heard of anyone experiencing such "restrictions" from an ISP. regards, Lee -- --- KMail v1.8 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 There's no problem so awful that you can't add some guilt to it and make it even worse! ...Calvin & Hobbes
