I just finished downloading all of 6.4 via ftp. It actually took me longer fooling around with various ftp programs than it did to download the distribution :( In the process of this I found that xftp ran consistently around 15k/s while gftp ran at 300-500k/s. Does anyone know why this is? I guess the advent of cable modems is showing the limitations of older programs. Even gftp crashed several times with segmentation faults. I was only trying ftp programs that could recurse thru directories. Are there any ftp programs out there which can recurse thru directories and handle symbolic links within the same directory structure? I wonder because the "full-names" directory caused me some problems, where gftp tried to download the same files twice.
