I have a samsung ml1740 which I couldn't get to print [suse does not show a driver for this model. It does have a driver for the ml1710 which samsung said should work. Suse 10 has no trouble recognizing the printer [ironic] so I thought I would try one last time by changing a minimum in defining the printer. I defined only the model = ml1710 and letter size vs A4. The other times I had dutifully crafted the answers to the questions: where, what, etc., this time I didn't and IT PRINTED and printed ... I don't know why - I wish I did as I don't like to have an open question - but I suspect that it has to do with cups and suse! When I did not try to over define the printer suse-cups was able to cope? Conclusion, for me at least: let suse-cups have as much control as possible. Any other insights, observations? Thanks to all for your help. -- Cheers, Serge
