I recently bough Applixware 4.3.7 Office Suite direct from SuSe in the United States. The package says it is compatible with SuSE Linux 5.1. The leaflet inside the package says: Applixware for Red Hat Linux and describes the installation:
mount cdrom # cd /cdrom Run the installation program: # ./install-applix
In the my SuSe Linux distribution this gives a 'permission denied'
Then tried 'sh ./install-applix' Did not work.
I found that the way for me to install applixware from the cd was to mount the cd like this: mount -rt iso9660 /dev/hdc /cdrom If I only mounted the cd with mount /cdrom I always got the error about permissions here.
Using YaST it gave a error message stating that cdrom had no installation directory.
The only way I could install applix was:
cd /cdrom/RPMS/i386
Then doing the ' rpm -ivh --nodeps of each rpm file'
It works !!
I thought that SuSe shld enclose a leaflet stating that the installation script does not work for SuSe customers. It would have save me time.
