Installing Fonts

I'm running SuSE 10.0. I have a TrueType font file that I would like to install. Google turned up a couple of procedures but they looked very error-prone plus they had been there awhile and could be out of date. I thought there was a routine in YaST that would do what I want but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone point me to a practical and safe way to install a single TrueType font?
