When i open up galeon, it keeps on replicating instances and does'nt stop until i kill it. I've got up to 98 instances so far. Anybody has this problem? And how did you fix it.
I've seen this. I installed the Rubber Turnip version of Galeon and was happy. ;-) (http://www.usr-local-bin.org/)

I hope I'm not offending anyone but this is actually a thread from April of this year. Two days ago we had this problem and having discussed it with my line manager, he managed to track down and resolve the problem. I am posting it on the list for those who might be interested or have this problem themselves. What happened. I was logged in to the system as root and started galeon. Thinking this was a bad idea, I cancelled the configuration window. However, galeon started up quite happily and I continue to use it as root. All subsequent galeon sessions opened up multiple instances and didn't stop unless it was killed off manually. Discovery and fix. What we discovered was that when logged in as root, two files were created: /opt/mozilla/components/compreg.dat /opt/mozilla/components/xpti.dat After removing these files galeon behaved normally when run as non-root user. Under non-root use these files do not get generated. Hope this helps. Eddie
