However, after a while, I noticed I could not print. The lpr command said it could not find lp@localhost. I looked into /etc/hosts and it was empty. Is there a process that would periodically "clean" the hosts file? The box is not connected to the internet, and nobody logs in as root. Any hints would be appreciated.
Yeah start yast2 ->system->Editor for /etc/sysconfig and do a search for "/etc/hosts" turn off "beautify" and "check" -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
