If you're running XFree86 v 4.x try /etc/X11/XF86Config (you don't need an /etc/XF86Config at all ).
Um, because the machine in question is running SuSE 7.0, which seems to be lacking Sax2. My 7.1 machines took very nicely to posted snippets of config for wheelmice ;-), but this one does not, and having had bad experiences with 'upgrade' installations, and a vague faith in the possiblity of fixing stupid stuff without "reinstall windows", I hope to find a proper solution.
