Hi, I have a problem with printing from a Windows 2K machine, via samba, to a printer connected to a SuSE 8 machine. My printing system is CUPS. The problem I am having is that to the Windows side everything seems to be OK but all I get on the printer side is one blank page. When I print from Linux, everything is OK. I have no problem seeing the printer or browsing the shares on my linux box, so I think the permissions are OK. I checked the system log files, the samba log files as well as the cups log files and none shows an error. The printer in question is a Xerox N17 PS printer using the "DocuPrint N17, Foomatic + Postscript" driver. smb.conf has the following printer related lines: [global] printing = cups [printers] printer admin=user1, user2 comment = All Printers browseable = no printable = yes public = no writable = no create mode = 0700 path = /var/tmp /var/tmp has the following permissions and ownership: drwxrwxrwt and is owned by root.root. There is another problem, which may be related (or not), I am not sure. Using the KDE control center, I try to set up the printer and I get the following dialog: unable to load a valid driver for printer xerox. Error message received from manager: The IPP request failed for an unknown reason. I'd appreciate any help on the subject. Avi -- Avi Schwartz Avi@CFFtechnologies.com
