Hey all,
I have an SBLive!, and I've installed it using YaST, so I guess it's using the ALSA drivers. Having plenty of trouble with ViaVoice (the downloadable version). I had it working at least partially on 7.0, but now the test-your-speakers part just makes scratchy noises, even though I can play music and talk through my microphone (ahh, feedback ;-) just fine. Also the Java seems to crash, probably due to incompatible SDKs and runtimes.
Java is so sad. It's a wonderful idea, write-one-run-anywhere but it's not even backwards compatible! Not in my end-user experience anyway.
Java is write-once-debug-everywhwere(TM)
Anyway.... if anyone's got it working I'd like to hear what you had to do to get it that way. Any any other speech related stuff - I couldn't get festival to compile either.
