Looks good to me. Unless you are a developer, there's no reason I can think of at this point to have source enabled. I would try this first zypper -v dup -D And report the messages you get, unless any you do see do not scare you, in which case go ahead and let zypper fix whatever got broken zypper -v dup That said, are you sure you're running KDM? Why did you find it necessary to mess with /etc/sysconfig files in YaST? Initially you wrote "my displaymanager is set to sddm", but since then we've been referring to kdm, yet your greeter is apparently not offering you the DE options it should be. What do ps -A | grep dm and rpm -qa | grep dm and systemctl status display-manager report?
