If I boot like this: shutdown -rF now my disks sounds strange, and Linux tells me that something is wrong.
What exactly is that "something"? My crystal ball is out for repairs.
If I run fsck I see no errors. What should I do?
Check your hardisk using the manufacturer provided check program, usually in the form of a self booting floppy you can download. Supposing your HD and bios support "smart" (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) use "smartctl /dev/hda --all" and you will see the log of the hda hardrive errors, attributes, etc. That program can also test your hard drive, even with the system in use. Info: man smartctl Included by SuSE. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
