how do i update opensuse10.2 kernel via Yast? is it risky to update kernel since i dont know much about linux? It's very easy. Just click on Online Update, and let Yast do it's thing and then reboot. Incidentally, updating the kernel is about the only software change that requires a reboot.
In addition to James's advice. There are some things (eg. some video drivers and some VMWare packages) that may need to be reinstalled after a kernel update. If you have previously installed any of these, reinstalling should not be a problem. However, make sure you include the kernel sources as part of the update. If you only have the normal OpenSuse packages installed, this will not be an issue and you should be good to go. Dave
