Hi there!. I've just installed openSUSE 11.2 but I can't get any sound output. My hwinfo --sound looks like: linux-5xhd:/home/daniel # hwinfo --sound 12: PCI 1b.0: 0403 Audio device [Created at pci.318] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_8086_27d8 Unique ID: u1Nb.ARy7XZavRKE SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:00:1b.0 Hardware Class: sound Model: "Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller" Vendor: pci 0x8086 "Intel Corporation" Device: pci 0x27d8 "82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller" SubVendor: pci 0x1565 "Biostar Microtech Int'l Corp" SubDevice: pci 0x820d Revision: 0x01 Memory Range: 0xfdff8000-0xfdffbfff (rw,non-prefetchable) IRQ: 10 (no events) Module Alias: "pci:v00008086d000027D8sv00001565sd0000820Dbc04sc03i00" Driver Info #0: Driver Status: snd_hda_intel is not active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe snd_hda_intel" Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown The lsmod output is: linux-5xhd:/home/daniel # lsmod Module Size Used by joydev 11232 0 af_packet 23424 0 i915 248968 1 drm 184896 2 i915 i2c_algo_bit 6884 1 i915 video 24600 1 i915 bridge 63476 1 stp 2532 1 bridge llc 7020 2 bridge,stp cpufreq_conservative 8396 0 cpufreq_userspace 3332 0 cpufreq_powersave 1568 0 acpi_cpufreq 9452 0 speedstep_lib 5092 0 fuse 74268 3 nls_iso8859_1 4000 1 nls_cp437 5664 1 vfat 12544 1 fat 58400 1 vfat loop 17228 0 dm_mod 84804 0 epl 171660 0 8139too 34372 0 ppdev 10276 0 sg 32884 0 pcspkr 2784 0 8139cp 25408 0 parport_pc 40356 0 i2c_i801 12788 0 parport 39948 2 ppdev,parport_pc floppy 61220 0 iTCO_wdt 12164 0 iTCO_vendor_support 3876 1 iTCO_wdt sr_mod 17572 0 cdrom 40768 1 sr_mod button 6608 0 intel_agp 31012 1 edd 10472 0 fan 5028 0 processor 50576 1 acpi_cpufreq ide_pci_generic 4036 0 piix 6760 0 ide_core 122572 2 ide_pci_generic,piix ata_generic 4836 0 thermal 21084 0 thermal_sys 18344 4 video,fan,processor,thermal The /etc/modprobe.d/ directory looks like this: linux-5xhd:/etc/modprobe.d # ls 00-system.conf 50-blacklist.conf~ 50-ipv6.conf 50-prism54.conf 50-thinkpad_acpi.conf module-renames 10-unsupported-modules.conf 50-blacklist.conf.rpmorig 50-ipw2200.conf 50-sound.conf 50-tv.conf sound.YaST2save 50-blacklist.conf 50-bluetooth.conf 50-nvidia.conf 50-sound.conf~ 99-local.conf xen_loop.conf Somebody told me to try to blacklist the ac97_bus driver, so I added it to the 50-blacklist.conf file: # OSS PCI sound modules blacklist ac97_bus blacklist ad1889 blacklist ali5455 blacklist btaudio blacklist cmpci blacklist cs4281 blacklist emu10k1 blacklist es1370 blacklist es1371 blacklist esssolo1 blacklist forte blacklist i810_audio blacklist maestro blacklist maestro3 blacklist nm256_audio blacklist opl3sa2 # Bug 219758 blacklist rme96xx blacklist sonicvibes blacklist trident blacklist via82cxxx_audio blacklist ymfpci The list goes on ... alsaconf is unable to fix the problem. And when trying to configure the sound card through YaST I got the following error: "The kernel module snd-hda-intel for sound support can not be loaded. This may be caused by incorrect module parameters, or even invalid IRQ or I/O." (It may be not as exactly as it should, I'm a spanish speaker guy just translating the message ;-) Please could somebody help me to fix this problem? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
