A friend is installing openSUSE10.2 on his computer today... and when the update mirror part of the install queried for the closest mirrof he got: http://ftp.chg.ru/pub/Linux/SuSE/suse/update/10.2 but... he's in the Netherlands. This only showed up as a problem because a lot of the packages on the Russian mirror seem to be missing or wrong versions. The result is that he has to click Skip on about 40% of the apps being updated on the install. Why would the Russian server be picked over a much closer and faster one in Germany? (the usual choice is usually one of the university servers in western Germany) If this is an "official" mirror - as would be assumed since it is in the list of mirrors that the installer checks - why would it be missing so many apps?
