Dear linux-e:
I mainly use Windows @ work. Although I use UNIX/Linux @ home, never worked with them before. I'm trying to take a UNIX systems analyst position. I'll have test & interview. I know little C/perl, & never used UNIX database. This job needs database/C++/perl, etc. What do UNIX systems anlysts do? Which sites can help me?
First off, read the llama book and/or the camel book. http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/lperl3/ - the llama book. http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/pperl3/ - the camel book. Secondly, read the USAH. It's (IMO) the single best UNIX book around. http://www.admin.com/ - the companion website for the UNIX System Administration Handbook. As for the DB stuff, I'm not a DBA, so I can't make any wildly helpful suggestions there. I really don't think there's any real substitute for cramming with a few books. hope this helps. Gideon.
