Hello Bob, lets see, what do you want exactly: 1) download and install rpms only? or 2) maintain your own apt-rpm repository? I assume you want 1) => that means you don't need aptate, which is being delivered by rpm: apt4rpm. Best thing to do now is to remove it: # rpm -e apt4rpm To clarify the apt4rpm rpm provide tools to create and maintain an apt-rpm repository. As there is a good suse apt repository present on the web, there is no real need to create the repository yourself. After removing the apt4rpm, return to the apt for suse howto at http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm and see it you get apt to work.... Op vrijdag 19 juli 2002 04:01, schreef Robert Stia:
Hello SuSE list
Just need a little clarification/guidance on my apt-get configuration scripts before I try her out.
At the top of my "mirrorlist" there is a line that states: (ommented out) system file "/usr/share/apt4rpm/mirrorlist.dtd". That is where that file is located. Please keep that in mind. When viewing that file I get the following: fatal parsing error: error occurred while parsing element in line 3, column 3 <!ELEMENT components (component)+ >
Now, in the aptate.conf file, about halfway down the list, I see: <mirrorlist>/home/apt4rpm/.aptate/mirror.xml<mirrorlist> This is obviously wrong. Question, should I edit it to the above stated location?, or should I edit it to the actual mirrorlist file which resides in /etc/apt ?
Why? because when I run "aptate" I get this error message:
bob@linux:~> aptate XMLin() requires either XML::SAX or XML::Parser at /usr/bin/aptate.pl line 119 error: incorrect config file "/etc/apt//aptate.conf" EXITVALUE: 11 bob@linux:~>
You should have used apt to retrieve apt4rpm, apt would have take care to download the dependend packages perl-XML-sax, etc as well ;))
One more question. Don't have ximian or opera. Should I just plug in a "no" for the rpmupdate or should I delete the whole section regarding those functions.
Sure hope someone can help with this. Richard?? Bob S.
