I tried all that yesterday, but no luck. I just tried installing a few at a time time I found the problem package. It is the Xf86tools-0.1-219.i386.rpm. I'm not sure yet why, but it kills my desktop, so I have the older -146 version installed with all the other -64, and it works. If I can figure out what it is in that package, I'll let the list know (or if someone else can tell, please let me know). TIA :-)
Oh yes your solution definetely works!!!!I also had problems raunning kde after the upgrade to the new rpm-s but I followed your advice in not installing the Xf86tools package and It is working for me. Thanks !!! Josef
