Currently thunderbird is much faster and usable and I am thinking of
moving to thunderbird finally.
I guess this is the best alternative. Kmail2 seems to be some kind of a program but for sure not one that can be used as an email client. It's a shame, I really loved kmail and was forced to use thunderbird, which is ok, but (for me) not what kmail was before.
I am searching big brother ggl from time to time about kmail2 in the hope that the complaints stopped and kmail2 returns to be a working email client as it was, but until now with no luck.

For the moment I am using KMail 4.8.3 and although it is not without flaws it let me do my emails. Have stopped Nepomuk and do not have serious problems with the speed and akonadi. Would say, it is worth a try.
