This started to work way better after the latest update, which brought in a newer version of libgphoto2. I still have to try several times before I can get Digikam to connect, but it is finally usable again. On Nov 10, 2007 4:12 PM, Myrosia Dzikovska <myrosia@gmail.com> wrote:
I have a Canon S60 camera that worked all right in OpenSuse 10.0. But I am having strange trouble in 10.3. I plug the USB in, the camera is detected (/var/log/messages) below and a dialogue appears offering me to open it in Digkam or in a new window. If I choose Digkam, it reports that it cannot connect to camera, no matter home many times I try. I tried both normal and PTP mode without success. If I choose "open in new window", I can eventually do it - after 4 or 5 tries. Most of the time I will get a "stalled" message, and from time to time "unable to lock device" error. Even if it opens, I can browse through folders, select some images and start copying them to my HD - and the camera will stall again. I eventually manage to download things, but it takes half an hour or more of attemtps to get through this process, and since Digikam doesn't work, I cannot use many of its most useful functions, such as downloading only new images. I am on a Sony Vaio PCG V505DP laptop, running the system with all the latest updates. There are no error messages that I can see in /var/log/messages. How would I go about trying to debug this?
