I *thought* I had that set up via expert partitioner, but then I got the message
"Missing device with size equal or bigger than 2 MiB and partition id bios_boot".
Yes. Instead of jumping to the expert partitioner, get the thing to make a proposal on the disk you intend for the system, then modify it. You will see that it has a "bios_boot" partition. This way YaST will be happy and it will put there what is needed, if it is needed. More info here: <https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2018-06/msg00101.html>
Google handed me:

which seems spot on, but not *quite* helpful?
I have the old /boot/efi partition, which I told the partitioner to leave alone, and at 500GB, it is more than big enough.
Wait, /boot/efi is 500 GB? That is a waste of space. 500 MB is way more than enough. 200 MB is typical.
The current 42.3 was the original SuSE install, so I have no recollection of how that partition got there (i.e. if SuSE said to have one, and I accpeted, or if that was there from Windows and I left it alone, having some notion that it was needed, or...?)
Also, do I need to explicitly tell the partitioner to set /boot/efi as a mount point on that old partition?
If your computer is booting in EFI mode, yes. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)
