I've also been investigating this. It does seem difficult to get a definitive answer to laser printer questions.
According to http://www.linuxprinting.org both the Brother and the Lexmark should work perfectly as they are both Postscript. My other choice is the Samsung ML-6060 which is not postscript but PCL 6 but it is not listed at the website but should work OK.
Shouldn't Ghostscript make the Postscript/PCL issue moot? I've read that Lexmark actively supports Linux with native drivers, while HP does not. That in itself would bias me toward Lexmark. Jim
