Hey Group;
Open SuSE 11.0 Beta 5 from a downloaded DVD is a pain.
I wouldn't even imagine that it's available anymore. Are you sure you don't mean 11.1 B5?
KDE4.1 is very incomplete and just about worth going to fvwm2.
You should use whatever works best for you (and your computer). After all, it's all free. KDE 3.5 is still available, too, and several other GUIs. I'm running 11.0 KDE 4.1.3 on a server, two desktops, and a laptop, and so far, everything I've wanted has been here. I just switched from Thunderbird to KMail, and I couldn't be happier. It's like trading a VW for a Porsche. KDE 4.0 wasn't nearly ready for prime time when openSuSE 11.0 shipped, and I think it was a mistake to include it. I continued using 3.5 on a couple of my machines for a while afterwards. But hearing that the updates were improving things, I gave it another try, and indeed it's now all I could ask for. So on 4 different motherboards, 3 different kinds of processors from Intel and AMD, 4 different video cards from 2 manufacturers, all different sound cards, and all sorts of drive controllers, everything just plain works for me. Works fine in a Hyper-V virtual on my Server 2008 machine at work, too. Maybe I'm just lucky. But I wanted you to know that not everyone is getting results like yours. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
