Well I decided to look further into the XEmacs compile problem I've been having. I tried, in accordance with 15.3.4 of the SuSE Book to compile the srpm for XEmacs and I received the same error I get when I try to cmpile XEmacs from the beta source: rpm -bb /usr/src/packages/SPECS/xemacs.spec [churn, churn, churn] *** PANIC *** The C compiler can no longer build working executables. Upon further investigation, I see, near the top of the xemacs.spec file, a list of tokens called "neededforbuild" in the comments. I ran rpm -q on the list and came up with "cannadev compface fwnndev" not being installed. I have no reason to believe these are the names of rpms except that they are listed with things that are the names of rpms. Running find on the dvd for these results in no hits. Are these the names of rpms? Are they needed for building xemacs? Are they on the distribution dvd? If so, where do I find them? If not, why not? Steve
