LyX, a quasi-WYSIWYG front-end to LaTeX, is probably your best bet for letters. The LyX developers don't like some aspects of WYSIWYG word processers, hence my use of "quasi." (For instance, LyX automatically takes care of adding spaces between paragraphs and the like, once you've configured it.) It's a different word processor "paradigm" (although I hate this word) altogether. The version of LyX included with 5.2 offers a nice letter template. Just fill in the blanks with your name and address. If you don't need dead-tree hard copies (i.e., you just want to edit e-mail or online documents), check out the editor vi (or its vamped-up, GUI-fied version, VIM 5.1). It sizzles. -- Glenn -- - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
