It was absolutely different for me. Downloaded x86_64 Beta5 DVD and played using Amarok all day and It never failed (nVidia audio too, XFX motherboard). Just changed the behavior of Desktop and then could drop the icons there (yes, you need to do that if you want to drop icons like kde 3.5), It was compiz capable (X11:Compiz repo) and KDE4.1 seems a lot better than 4.0. I got some "SIG 11" from plasma but It's not essential so I disabled It. For now I updated to RC1 without problems. On Thu, Nov 27, 2008 at 10:09 PM, Donn Washburn <n5xwb@windstream.net> wrote:

Hey Group;
Open SuSE 11.0 Beta 5 from a downloaded DVD is a pain. KDE4.1 is very incomplete and just about worth going to fvwm2. KDE4.1 seems to miss guess the audio on this system (correct - NVidia AC97). And KDE4.1 lacks the ability to easily add icons and apps to th desktop. That was real easy in 3.5. Amarok and kwintv fail to work. Some programs even cause "sig 11" problems. And so far zypper dup seems to only want to downgrade packages. Oh yes gstreamer is the cause of the miss guessed audio problem or at least it shows up when exiting X. - -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@windstream.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org
