I finally took my card out and looked at it. The fan was HOT after a night's uptime on my machine. Thank God the chip has not blown yet. Tried rotating the fan manually, it was really hard to do it. I am sure a motor could not have moved the fan by itself. Surprisingly the motor is on even now. Just that it fails to move the fan.
I had the same thing happen. The %$#$% fan died and I didn't know it until the display developed a visible problem. I installed a 5.25" fan that blows on the card, but of course it cannot reverse the stroke the card already had. As a precaution, I also installed a 5.25" fan blowing on another NVidia card -- I don't trust the factory POS fans. If your card still works and you want to replace it, email me. Since I've already got a 5.25" fan installed, an otherwise functional card with a dead fan is not a problem. -rex
