Hi..
I'm trying to decide which Linux distribution to install, and would like to know if SuSE offers support for my Microtek E6 scanner (SCSI).
the scan-driver-program sane supports your scanner and itŽs included in suse 5.1 and 5.2 but i donŽt know in with version...
Any Linux distribution is Linux, it is all the same, as long as you have installed the scanner software in your system, for this instance, SANE.
have a look at the sane homepage for microtek scanners: <A HREF="http://www.mir.com/mtek/</A">http://www.mir.com/mtek/</A>
the only problem will be, that sane afaik only supports your scanner with a kernel supported scsi-controller, not with the controller shipped with the scanner...
I'm not sure what SCSI host adapter Microtek E6 scanner is shipping with. The one that is shipped with Mustek 800IISP is a NCR 5380 and it works great with Linux. However, SANE is run with GIMP installed. The scanning will be good if your graphic card supports 32 bits depth. My 2cts.
