Believe me, that works, it works well. I was designed that way. Forget buqqqering around with Yast. Like the Nike people say "Just Do It". I set it up that way back when and it's definitely a 'fire and forget'. No problems with LVM startup in any ways, shape or form since.
And for a good generic reference for LVM setup, it's always worth checking the Arch wiki for low-level config info, e.g. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/LVM (aside from arch using a slightly different config, it gives you all the nuts-and-bolts of LVM config) This isn't a knock on suse, just a recognition that the archwiki usually has good low-level config info given its minimalist approach to setup tools (and the extraordinary amount of work that Arch puts into its wiki -- on all subjects) -- David C.
