Has anyone heard of this one: When issuing the command net, alias for /etc/suseppp/scripts/ppp-up isp there is at least a 10 second delay before the modem begins to dial. Everything sounds fine (its internal) but then the connections dies. Modem started instantly w/previous setup. The problem started immediately after I compiled and installed kernel 2.2.7 and rebooted...booted old kernel and still had the problem. Running 6.0 w/32 megs ram and 300Mhz k6 with hayes 33.6 internal modem. I got ppp running w/no problems using suseppp when I first got the disto and have had no problems until now. Here is what /var/log/messages had to say about it: shaolin kernel: CSLIP: code copyright 1989 Regents of the University of California shaolin kernel: PPP: version 2.2.0 (dynamic channel allocation) shaolin kernel: PPP Dynamic channel allocation code copyright 1995 Caldera, Inc. shaolin kernel: PPP line discipline registered. shaolin kernel: registered device ppp0 shaolin pppd[341]: pppd 2.3.5 started by root, uid 0 shaolin pppd[341]: Serial connection established. shaolin pppd[341]: Using interface ppp0 shaolin pppd[341]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem shaolin pppd[341]: sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0x5b76f913> <pcomp> <accomp>] shaolin last message repeated 9 times shaolin pppd[341]: LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests shaolin pppd[341]: Connection terminated. shaolin pppd[341]: Receive serial link is not 8-bit clean: shaolin pppd[341]: Problem: all had bit 7 set to 0 shaolin pppd[341]: Terminating on signal 2 Thanks in advance!
